RETURNING STUDENTS/ADVANCED PLACEMENT

Returning students automatically progress to the Advanced Class in their second summer and can apply for the Master Class in their third summer. High school juniors and seniors who have prior training in the specific areas we cover during the first year (ie techniques such as Viewpoints or Meisner, On Camera classes, private vocal coaching) can submit a full resume and audition tape for Advanced Placement consideration.

Please note that Advanced Placement is not a judgment about skill or talent, it is a way to ensure that students who already have significant knowledge of what we teach can build on that foundation.

ADVANCED CLASS

Advanced Class students work at a college conservatory level, honing their technique and taking on new challenges such as scene work in dialect, period pieces and contrasting audition monologues. Some work is assigned before you arrive in France and you will be expected to be off-book and hit the ground running. Partner and ensemble scene work is longer and more challenging and the Advanced Class performs all of their work in the Final Showcase.

MASTER CLASS

An opportunity to work at a professional level, Master Class Students have a mixture of regular classes with the whole program and private coaching sessions. They also participate in a special evening class which is made up entirely of our faculty giving them the opportunity to work with professional actors. In addition, they will serve as a Teaching Assistant for Shakespeare, On-Camera and Acting Techniques, where they will lead warm-ups, rehearse actors, block scenes and work closely with the faculty. Master Class students are free to take an elective of their choice. For a full outline of the Master Class Program, please see our website.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT

To be considered for Advanced Placement please submit an audition tape containing an introduction of yourself and two contrasting monologues each one-minute in length, one of them preferably Shakespeare. You must also submit a full acting resume including all classes you have taken, techniques you have studied and tech experience.  You must also include a recommendation letter from a theatre teacher, acting coach or director.  For consideration in the Advanced Class, you must currently be a junior or senior . For consideration for the Master Class, you must be in your senior year. Please note that availability of places for new students is contingent upon the number of returning students each summer.
