ABOUT US

Acting Abroad is an arts organization created by artists for artists.  The summer conservatory is only the beginning of our commitment to train and prepare young actors for careers in the performing arts.  This year, we will be granted our non-profit status which will enable us to access government and private arts funding to expand our organization in new and exciting ways.  Some programs in development include:

YA4TE - We believe that young actors have the ability to inspire and educate younger children through the medium of theatre in unique and powerful ways. Young Actors For Theatre Education creates theatre outreach programs in the communities of our former students.  Our faculty coordinates an after school “tour”  with our students, bringing them to local schools where they perform plays, host workshops and teach theatre games to children ages 7-10 who otherwise would not be exposed to theatre education.  Our students in turn gain valuable teaching and mentoring experience.

EMERGING PLAYWRIGHTS GRANT – The nurturing of new voices in the theatre is of the highest importance to our organization.  The Emerging Playwrights Grant will assist young playwrights in developing their work through feedback and editing of their work, organized readings, submission to play festivals and staging of work where possible.
