Meisner Technique
Actors study the techniques of Sanford Meisner and what he phrased as “living truthfully under imaginary circumstances” as a means to develop performances that feel spontaneous. A variety of exercises that focus on the technique of “repetition” and the concept of “committing to an objective” help actors to access their emotional life in order to live moment-to-moment on stage.
Basic Jazz
Few actors go through their careers without needing to show some fancy footwork at some point. Whether it be basic movement or full-fledged musical numbers; the better armed you are with basic dance skills, the more likely you are to get hired. Intended for those just beginning to dance, this course will teach the basics of rhythm, technique, and style.
Jazz Performance
For more experienced dancers, this course continues the study of technique and style with a strong emphasis being placed on the art of performance. Students will learn how to “sell” a number and make their dancing work for them both on stage and in the audition room. Dancers develop audition pieces tailored to their own talents and future goals
LA Story – Acting on the West Coast
What are the TV and Film casting directors really looking for? This workshop takes you through the typical audition process, from what to expect to how to make an audition tape, you’ll learn what life is really like doing the audition circuit in LA.
New York, New York – Acting on the East Coast
What is it like trying to get on Broadway? This workshop looks into the world of a NY actor, how to put a headshot and resume together, what it takes to get your Equity card, the audition process, what stage casting directors are looking for and how to survive in the dog-eat-dog world of New York City!
Training Programs in the US and Abroad
Degree based programs, conservatory training or private study; this workshop gives actors an overview of the different types of programs and the benefits and drawbacks of each. A list of specific schools in the US and abroad will be discussed and faculty will share their first-hand experiences with their own training as well as give tips on the application and audition process.
In Your Own Words - Nurturing the Writer/Performer
Discover your unique voice and how to bring it to life on stage. We’ll look at process of putting together the “one-person show”, including the writing, staging and dynamic energy needed to make this type of performance successful. Actors in this workshop will investigate the topics and stories they would like to tell, and begin to conceptualize their own one-person show.
Stage Makeup
Actors learn the basics of applying stage makeup to enhance or alter their features. The basics of equipment and application are taught as well as advanced techniques of how to appear older or younger, apply scars or facial hair, change gender or become a non-human character such as an animal or creature. Actors will learn how to consider factors such lighting and size of house and how to adjust their makeup for different situations.

Fun, fast workshops where we put it “in a nutshell” to give actors a large amount of information in a short amount of time in order to help them with sea of titles, terminology, authors and eras they’ll need to know as they continue studying and performing.

Actors must read to improve. But with all of the books on technique and style, getting an agent, what monologues to audition with, where do you begin? This workshop provides an overview of the “must read” books for actors and what they have to teach as well as unlocking the mysteries surrounding the most bounced around names in the business including Stanislavski, Hagen, Meisner and others.
Jargon Busting for Actors
Upstage, downstage, offstage, backstage; we’ll cover all the basics of what actors need to know to “get around” in the theatre. This workshop deciphers the jargon of acting such as what “sides”, “callbacks” or “cattle calls” are, what people mean by “method acting” or what a “dramaturg” does. Everything you ever wanted to know about the theatre but were afraid to ask!
